 The first as solid as ever. However, in recent time, cricket had lost the flavour of competition as most of the international teams failed to perform at parallel levels. The cricket authorities witnessed a shaft in popularity among the young fans, as they started to become fonder of other sports such as football and basketball as the games are much competitive and of shorter durations. Naturally, the game had to evolve.
The pitch
The cricket pitch is considered the key component of a match. The fundamental principle is that you cannot play a good game if the of the groundsmen and the soil composition of the particular area. Soil composition is something that cannot be completely manipulated; however the groundsmen can be trained and supervised. Many cricket boards have already taken initiative to give a series of seminars to groundsmen, search for sources of good quality clay for each of the fields and also provide the necessary equipments to measure the bounce and pace of the pitches.
